Volkswagen Atlas garners kudos as a family vehicle

2021 Volkswagen Atlas

Volkswagen’s Atlas SUV has earned some praise for its family-centric focus in early 2021. Most recently, it made Parents magazine’s Best Family Cars list and earlier this year it was named the Family Car of the Year by Cars.com.

“The Atlas was designed and built from the ground up with American families in mind,” said Scott Keogh, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America. “Being named to Parents magazine’s Best Cars list for a fourth year running is truly an honor. It shows that Atlas provides families with the features, capabilities and value they need most.”

Parents commended Atlas for its comfortable driving experience and safety features, as well as its car-seat compatibility and its three-zone climate control.

In the Cars.com 2021 Family Car of the Year category, the Atlas beat out the Ford Expedition and Kia Telluride for the honor. It was the second year that the Atlas took the top spot in Cars.com’s listing.

“The Volkswagen Atlas offers the perfect blend of interior space and drivability that bests its competitors,” said Jenni Newman, Cars.com editor-in-chief. “The second and third rows seat adults comfortably — which is a rarity — and the excellent child-safety seat system earns the Atlas a repeat spot on Cars.com’s Car Seat Check Honor Roll.”

The Atlas SUV is made at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga, Tennessee, plant.
