Unipres, a global leader in stamping technology, is investing $6.3 million to expand its production facility in Steele, Alabama. The expansion will also add 10 jobs at the plant.
The expansion will include new equipment that will help the company meet new and increasing demands from OEMs in regards to their upcoming models.
This expansion follows one that was completed in 2018, when the company invested $40 million in the plant and added 70 jobs.
“We are always happy to support Unipres and their growth in our community,” said Mayor Roger Adams. “Steele is proud to count Unipres as one of our great industrial companies. They are one of our largest employers and we congratulate them on their continued growth and success.”
Unipres has developed a high tensile strength steel forming technology, along with product design, that allows the company to create high tensile strength steel that is light weight. Through its car body press technology, the company employs a forming analysis that predicts the final shape of the product and incorporates the forming conditions into their dies while controlling the stress on the steel.
Unipres Alabama Inc. has been a tier 1 supplier to Honda Manufacturing of Alabama in Lincoln and Honda’s East Liberty Plant in Ohio for many years.
“On behalf of the St. Clair County Commission, I would like to congratulate Unipres on their continued growth in St. Clair County, and we wish them continued success,” said St. Clair County Commission President Paul Manning.
