
Toyota Motor North America reported June 2021 sales of 207,331 vehicles, an increase of 39.8% on a volume and daily selling rate basis over June 2020. Of those vehicles sold, alternative powered vehicles (APV), including hybrids, EVs and fuel cells, totaled 46,074 vehicles, representing 22.2% of total monthly sales.
For the first half of the year, TMNA reported sales of almost 1.3 million, an increase of 44.5% on a volume basis and an increase of 46.5% on a daily selling rate basis over the same month last year. For the first half of the year, APV sales totaled 299,811 vehicles, representing 23.2% of total year-to-date sales.
Passenger car sales totaled 68,711 vehicles in June, up 56.8% on a volume and daily selling rate basis. For the first half of the year, the passenger cars sold totaled 431,457 vehicles, up 44.8% on a volume basis and up 46.7% on a daily selling rate basis.
Truck sales totaled 138,560 vehicles in June, up 32.7% on a volume and daily selling rate basis. For the first half of the year, truck sales totaled 860,422 vehicles, up 44.4% on a volume basis and up 46.3% on a daily selling rate basis.
The Toyota division posted June sales of 180,623 vehicles, up 41.6% over June 2020. For the first half of 2021, the Toyota division reported sales of 1.1 million vehicles, up 44.1% on a volume basis.
Lexus posted June sales of 26,708 vehicles, up 29.1% over last June. For the first half of this year, Lexus reported sales of 157,713 vehicles, up 47.7% on a volume basis and up 49.6% on a daily selling rate basis.

Toyota has a number of manufacturing plants in the South. In Alabama, the company has a motor manufacturing plant in Huntsville producing 4-cylinder, V-6 and V-8 engines. It also is in a joint partnership with Mazda on the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing plant, also in Huntsville, Alabama, that will soon begin producing the all-new Toyota Corolla Cross. In Kentucky, Toyota produces the Camry and Avalon sedans, the RAV4 Hybrid SUV and the Lexus ES 350 sedan in Georgetown. In Mississippi, the company produces the Corolla at its plant in Blue Springs. And in Texas, the company builds Tacoma and Tundra pickups in San Antonio.
