Regional automakers gather at Southern Automotive Conference

More than 1,000 attendees expected over the three-day event.

More than 1,000 attendees are expected to walk through the doors of the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Alabama for the 14th annual Southern Automotive Conference starting today.

Hosted by the Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association, the conference presents the best and most innovative ideas the automotive sector has to offer. The SAC has a special focus on manufacturers, suppliers and service providers based in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

With more than 200 exhibitors, the SAC 2021 will showcase the latest innovations and issues the automotive industry is facing today. Among some of the conference’s keynote speakers are leaders from Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA and Mercedes-Benz US International.

In addition, original equipment manufacturers, workforce leaders and state leaders will all be together, sharing best practices that will help drive the region forward. Breakout sessions will cover leadership, innovation, quality, the future of electric transportation, workforce challenges and sustainability at the supplier level.

On Friday, a Southern Region Governor’s Panel will feature Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves and South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, sharing the latest news in each of their states, followed by a panel discussion covering questions pre-submitted to the event organizers.

In addition, Toyota will debut its new Tundra model and awards will be presented to supplier firms. A special announcement on the SAC Hall of Fame 2021 honoree will also be shared by Alabama Secretary of Commerce Greg Canfield.
