The Nissan Group announced total United States sales for December 2019 of 104,781 units, a decrease of 29.5 percent from the previous year. The group also announced total calendar year 2019 U.S. sales of 1,345,681 units, a decrease of 9.9 percent compared to 2018.

Nissan has four manufacturing facilities in the U.S., three in Tennessee and one in Mississippi. Of these, two are vehicle assembly plants and two are powertrain plants.
In the Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant in Tennessee, an annual production capacity of 640,000 vehicles roll off the lines, including Nissan Altima, Maxima, LEAF, Rogue, Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60.
In the Canton, Mississippi vehicle assembly plant, the company has a production capacity of 450,000 vehicles and produces the Nissan Altima, Frontier, Titan, Murano and NV Cargo and Passenger vans.
Altima sales continue to rise in December with 19,132 units sold, up 12 percent from December 2018. In comparing the year figures, Altima sold just slightly more in 2019 versus 2018, with a difference of 37 more vehicles sold in 2019.
The NV was down 14.6 percent for December sales at 1,719 units sold in December 2019 compared to 2,013 units sold in December 2018. However, for the yearly comparison the NV was up 18.5 percent with 20,022 units sold in 2019 compared to 16,902 units sold in 2018.
The NV200 also was down 13.5 percent in December sales at 1,462 units sold in December 2019 compared to 1,691 units sold in December 2018. However, for the yearly comparison the NV200 was slightly positive at 0.8 percent with 18,768 units sold in 2019 compared to 18,628 units sold in 2018.
However, news for the other vehicles produced at the Tennessee and Mississippi plants was negative.
The Maxima sold only 3,387 vehicles in December 2019, down 39.5 percent from the previous December. Maxima sold 35,076 units in all of 2019, compared to 42,337 units in 2018, a 17.2 percent decrease.
The LEAF sold 1,227 units in December 2019 compared to 1,667 units in December 2018, a 26.4 percent decrease. For the yearly comparison, LEAF sold 12,365 units in 2019 compared to 14,715 units in 2018, a 16 percent decrease.
The Rogue sold 35.7 percent less vehicles in December 2019 compared to December 2018 and for the year, sold 350,447 units in 2019 compared to 412,110 units in 2018, a 15 percent decrease.
The Pathfinder was also down in sales for December 2019 versus 2018 at 13.3 percent. However, for the year, the decrease was only 2.8 percent with 65,691 units sold in all of 2019 versus 67,550 units sold in 2018.
The Infinity QX60 sold 4,113 units in December 2019 compared to 7,032 units sold in December 2018, a decrease of 41.5 percent. For the yearly comparison, Infinity QX60 sold 43,162 units in 2019 compared to 47,370 in 2018, an 8.9 percent decrease.
The Frontier was down 37 percent in sales for December 2019 versus December 2018. In the yearly comparison, the Frontier sold 72,369 units in 2019 compared to 79,646 units in 2018, a 9.1 percent decrease.
The Titan had the worst December 2019 to December 2018 comparison, with a decrease of 58.9 percent. For the yearly comparison, the Titan sold 31,514 units in 2019 compared to 50,459 units in 2018, a 37.5 percent decrease.
The Murano sold 5,187 units in December 2019 compared to 8,033 units in December 2018, a decrease of 35.4 percent, and for the yearly comparison, it sold 68,361 in 2019 compared to 83,547 in 2018, an 18.2 percent decrease.
