Kia Motors Retail Sales Up in July

Kia Telluride Nightfall Edition

Kia Motors America’s July sales were the highest July retail-only total in company history at 52,479 vehicles. The top selling models for the month were Sorento and Sportage SUVs.

“In the middle of the pandemic Kia posted the largest year-over-year retail-only volume increase in the industry as demand for our six utility vehicles continues to grow,” said Bill Peffer, vice president of sales operations, Kia Motors America.

Telluride SUV sales rose 68.3 percent in July over the previous month as Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia resumed production. The Sportage SUV sales of 7,939 units was the best-ever July retail sales for that model and the Seltos SUV sold 4,504 units, which was its best monthly sales performance.

“Kia’s momentum has allowed us to gain share and we are confident that the all-new K5 and Telluride Nightfall Edition, combined with several new product launches scheduled for the coming months, will continue the brand’s upward trajectory,” Peffer said.

Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia is the automaker’s only U.S. manufacturing facility. The $1.1 billion plant produces the Telluride and Sorento SUVs and the Optima sedan. The plant’s approximately 2,700 team members typically produce around 340,000 vehicles a year. In addition to the manufacturing facility, the 2,200-acre site is home to the Kia Georgia Training Center, where robotics, welding and electronic labs, classrooms and equipment are used to train team members for their roles within the company.
