
Kia America has its highest ever first-half yearly sales with 378,511 vehicles sold. For this first six months of 2021, Kia U.S. sales were up 43.7% year-over-year.
June followed on the heels of March, April and May as being a record-breaking sales month with 68,486 units sold, a 43.1% increase over June 2020. Telluride sales were up 79% over the first half of 2020.
“Kia closed the first-half of the year with incredibly strong sales, and this unprecedented momentum will continue as we further implement our growth strategy to gain market share even in light of industry-wide supplier issues and delayed production,” said Sean Yoon, president and CEO of Kia North America and Kia America. “We are increasing sales of fuel-efficient sedans and our SUV sales are growing based on the strength of our light trucks, including the innovative and award-winning Sorento and the all-new Carnival MPV.”
Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia makes the Optima sedan and the Sorento and Telluride SUVs in West Point. Of those models, the Optima has had the best sales in 2021 with 51,120 units sold year-to-date. The Sorento sold 48,313 units in the first half of 2021 and the Telluride sold 45,438 units in the first half of 2021.
