Constellium Ranked Tops Among Automotive Suppliers

Constellium, a full-service supplier of rolled and extruded aluminum solutions for the automotive market, has been included in Automotive News’ annual listing of top suppliers for a second consecutive year. The firm ranked no. 92 worldwide and no. 83 in North America.

Constellium supplies the automotive market with a portfolio of advanced aluminum rolled products and extrusion-based structural components. Its products are lightweight yet has the formability, crash performance and thermal management that the automotive companies need.

Constellium has 28 production facilities, technology centers and offices worldwide, with approximately 13,000 employees. In the South, the company has facilities in Bowling Green, Kentucky and Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

The Bowling Green, Kentucky plant manufactures flat rolled aluminum auto body sheet, as well as a full range of automotive alloys with a broad range of thickness and widths. The plant can produce up to 100,000 metric tons annually.

“Being featured in the Automotive News list of top suppliers is a true testament to Constellium’s unique positioning in the market,” said Craig Lewis, sales and marketing director for Constellium’s Automotive Rolled Products in North America. “Our growth last year, including the ramp up of our auto body sheet business in Bowling Green, as well as new Automotive Structures programs for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and BMW X-Series vehicles, helped advance our ranking.”

In Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Constellium has more than 1,200 employees at its world-class recycling center. One of the largest sites for the company, the Muscle Shoals facility can recycle nearly 20 billion cans per year. Its main product is aluminum can sheet for the packaging industry, specifically for beverages. However, the plant also supplies auto body sheet substrate to the Bowling Green, Kentucky plant.
